Seki-Han Suspension Light

Seki-Han Suspension Light

Originally designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1962, Flos have re-launched the Seki-Han Suspension Light, combining an ambient light source with the warmth of natural wood. Highlighting the beauty of the grain, this contemporary pendant light is composed of two vertical blades, crafted from solid ash, gently cupping the light source within. Named after a traditional Japanese rice dish served on special occasions, Seki-Han is a living presence where the immateriality of light meets the tactility of wood. A testament to the craftsmanship of wood-work, Seki-Han’s intricate construction draws on naval-techniques to shape the two wooden blades which can be rotated around the light source, gently redirecting the light. Even when almost completely closed, a sliver of light remains visible, creating a highly poetic effect.

Emitting both direct and indirect light with a symmetrical and asymmetrical distribution, the central tubular light source can be adjusted to suit the needs of the moment with its integrated dimmer function.
