Gatto Table Lamp, Large
The Gatto Table Lamp is a discreet, gentle light, originally designed in 1960, the design has established itself as a true icon. Designed by Achille and Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos, Gatto emits a soft, milky glow like traditional Oriental rice paper lamps.
The internal structure of the lamps is a slender, white powder-coated steel rod while the shape of the diffuser is generated by a resin known as Cocoon, which when sprayed onto a frame, solidifies to create a solid membrane. Cocoon (a synthetic fibre made of plastic polymers), was first used by the U.S. army to preserve unused wartime transports and thanks to the Castiglioni brothers transformation they gave new to the material to create beautiful, timeless objects. Also available in a smaller version. Integrated dimmer included.
